Each colander starts as a lump of moist clay that is shaped on the potter's wheel. Once the clay stiffens, the narrow foot is trimmed, the side are darted, the lip is cut and pitched and the holes are added. Colored slip dots and lines were applied with a metal tipped slip trailer, wrapping the piece in pattern that is both tactile and beautiful. The colander is glaze
