Careers / Applicant terms

Applicant terms

The terms you accept when you apply for a role with Umbrella Connect. Short, plain and fair.

About these terms

These terms apply when you apply for a role with Umbrella Connect Ltd through this website. You need to accept them to apply. They are not a contract of employment and applying does not create one. A job offer is only made in writing.

We never charge candidates

Umbrella Connect never asks candidates for money: not for applying, assessments, training, equipment, uniforms, visas or placement. If anyone asks you to pay in our name, it is not us. Do not pay, and tell us at careers@umbrellaconnect.uk.

Who can apply

You must be at least 18 years old and allowed to work in the country where the role is based. Our roles are office-based in Wattala, Sri Lanka, unless the role description says otherwise.

Your information must be true

You confirm that everything in your application is true, complete and your own, and that you have the right to share any documents or work samples you upload. If we find that information was false or misleading, we may end the process or withdraw an offer.

Your video and files

If you send a video, you confirm that you are the person in it and that it contains nothing offensive and no confidential information belonging to anyone else. We use your video and files only to assess your application. If you reach the client interview, we may show your CV and video to the UK client for the role, as our recruitment privacy notice explains.

How we hire

Our process usually has six steps: your application, a skills assessment, an interview with our Sri Lanka team, an interview with leadership, an interview with the UK client and, if successful, an offer and onboarding. The UK client takes part in the final decision. Assessment tasks are for evaluation only and we do not use your answers commercially.

Assessment answers must be your own work unless the task says you may use tools. We may change, pause or close a role at any time. We will always tell you the outcome of your application, but we cannot always give detailed feedback.

Checks before an offer

Before we confirm an offer we may, with your knowledge, check your identity, right to work, qualifications and references, and for some roles ask for a police clearance report. We will tell you which checks apply before we start them.

Confidentiality

During interviews you may learn about our clients and how they work. Please keep that information confidential.

Fair treatment

We assess every candidate on their skills, experience and potential. We do not discriminate on the grounds of age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion or belief, disability, marital status or pregnancy. If you need an adjustment to take part in any step, tell us at careers@umbrellaconnect.uk and we will make it where we reasonably can.

How we contact you

We contact you about your application by email, phone or WhatsApp, using the details you gave us. We may stop the process if a candidate is abusive towards our team or a client.

Withdrawing your application

You can withdraw at any time by emailing careers@umbrellaconnect.uk with your reference. Your data is then kept and deleted as the recruitment privacy notice explains.

Law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Nothing in them takes away rights you have under the law of the country where you live. If we change these terms we publish the new version here with a new date. The version you accepted is recorded with your application.
